The nominative command sergeant major and sergeant major key billet selection list that was released Aug. 7 has been pulled back by the Army, apparently because some of the selectees did not meet eligibility criteria needed for assignment to the top enlisted positions in one- and two-star general officer commands.
"The list is being reviewed, revalidated and will be re-released and posted to the (Human Resources Command) Web site as soon as the re-validation is complete," according to a notice issued Aug. 12 by HRC.

NCOs whose names appear on the final selection list will be candidates for appointment to brigadier general- and major general-level command sergeant major and sergeant major key billet positions that become vacant in 2015 and 2016.
The basic zone of eligibility for the nominative E-9 board that met early this summer included command sergeants major and sergeants major with basic dates of March 30, 1984, and later, and birth dates no earlier than July 31, 1955.
The Army also required that candidates have experience in CSM or sergeant major key billet positions at the brigade- or battalion-level, or both, as demonstrated by holding professional development proficiency code 7C or 7S.
This was an opt-in board, meaning that NCOs who met the criteria had to officially request that they be included in the zone of consideration.
