TEXARKANA, Texas — A Northeast Texas man faces up to five years of probation for his role in what prosecutors call a Red River Army Depot billing scam.
The Texarkana Gazette reports William Randall Scott of DeKalb pleaded guilty Monday to theft of government property in a plea deal.
The Red River Army Depot, about 10 miles east of Texarkana, employs a large civilian workforce to help repair military vehicles. Scott, who cooperated with authorities, was among seven men charged in the fraud and theft investigation.
The other six men indicted in September await trial in the case involving military trucks, repairs and work allegedly not done. Prosecutors say the government lost about $2 million since 2007.
