Fort Carson IDs soldier killed in motorcycle crash

Fort Carson, Colorado, officials on Friday released the name of a 22-year-old soldier who died Wednesday in an on-base motorcycle crash.

Spc. Zachary L. Brooks, a fire support specialist assigned to 2nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, had been stationed at Fort Carson since August 2013, base officials said in a news release. The Superior, Montana, native joined the service in April 2013 and deployed once to Kuwait for nine months.

Brooks' motorcycle was the only vehicle involved in the crash, according to the release; he died of his injuries at a local hospital. The incident is under investigation.
