Tennessee Bureau of Investigation special agents arrested and charged a Fort Campbell soldier in connection to allegations of child porn, officials announced Monday.

James Alexander West, 25, of Clarksville, is facing one count of felony sexual exploitation of a minor following an undercover TBI investigation that began last month, TBI spokesman Josh DeVine said.

On Sept.16, while working in an undercover capacity, special agents began an investigation on social media websites in search of people attempting to make contact with minors for the purpose of sex, DeVine said.

During the course of the investigation, agents identified a posting by an adult who expressed interest in a sexual relationship with a child, DeVine said. Investigators then traced the posting to West's home on Joshua Drive in Clarksville.

Agents, with help from the Clarksville Police Department, executed a search of West's house on Oct. 1, DeVine said.

During the search, agents identified images of child pornography on unnamed devices they say belong to West.

On Oct. 2, agents arrested West and he was booked into the Montgomery County Jail.

As of Monday he remained free on $75,000 bond.
