A soldier assigned to U.S. Army Alaska was found dead in his on-post home Tuesday, officials said.

Sgt. Alexander Alcantara, 40, was found in his house on Fort Wainwright by a family member. Officials said they do not suspect foul play.

Alcantara, of Yona, Guam, joined the Army in January 2007. He completed training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, and served at Fort Wainwright and Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington, before returning to Alaska in August 2013.

He was assigned to 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division.
