Police are searching for a missing Fort Bragg paratrooper

Police in Fayetteville, North Carolina, are actively searching for a missing Fort Bragg soldier.

Sgt. Carl Seeman, 25, was reported missing by another soldier around 8:30 p.m. Sunday.

Seeman is still considered missing, although there are no signs of foul play at this time, Officer Asia Cannon, a spokeswoman for the Fayetteville police department, told Army Times.

A native of Churchville, New York, Seeman has been in the Army since 2011 and in the 82nd Airborne Division since 2015, division spokesman Lt. Col. Joe Buccino told Army Times.

He’s assigned to 2nd Battalion, 319th Field Artillery Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division.

Seeman’s unit was set to depart for Fort Polk, Louisiana, for training on Sunday morning, but his fellow soldiers became worried when he never showed up.

The paratrooper’s status was changed from “present” to “AWOL” on Monday, Buccino said.

Fayetteville police recovered Seeman’s vehicle at a local Walmart shortly after he was reported missing on Sunday night. Cannon confirmed that Seeman’s cellphone was found in the car.

Cannon said the police department’s Violent Criminal Apprehension Team is currently on the case.

“The same tools you can use to find violent people, you can use to find missing people,” she said.

Seeman has three younger siblings who are also in the military. His mother, Jennifer Seeman, has taken to social media to ask for help locating her son.

The Democrat & Chronicle reported that the Seeman family is traveling to North Carolina to speak with local authorities. Cannon said the Fayetteville police are actively communicating with Seeman’s chain of command at Fort Bragg.
