WEST POINT, N.Y. — West Point is officially getting its first female dean.
The U.S. Military Academy says a ceremony will be held Friday to recognize Col. Cindy Jebb as the dean of the Academic Board. She also will be promoted to brigadier general during a ceremony officiated by the academy's superintendent, Lt. Gen. Robert Caslen.
Jebb is a 1982 West Point graduate who now heads the academy's department of social sciences.
President Obama nominated Jebb in April.
She replaces Brig. Gen. Tim Trainor, who is retiring.
