OKLAHOMA CITY — A U.S. attorney's office says an Oklahoma Army National Guard soldier has agreed to a settlement over allegations he filed false claims to earn recruitment bonuses.
U.S. attorney Sandford Coats for the Western District of Oklahoma announced Wednesday staff Sgt. Kasey Ray Bickerstaff will pay $12,000 to settle the civil penalty claims.
An office spokesman says Bickerstaff agreed to the settlement but didn't admit liability.
Bickerstaff worked as a recruiter assistant and could earn bonuses for people he recruited to join the National Guard.
Prosecutors say Bickerstaff filed four false claims under a recruiting assistance program between January 2009 and April 2010.
