MORRISTOWN, N.Y. — State police say a Fort Drum soldier has died in a one-vehicle accident on a northern New York road.
Troopers say Ronald J. Dupuis III of North Grosvenordale, Connecticut, was driving his pickup on state Route 37 early Sunday morning when he crashed on a curve in the St. Lawrence County town of Morristown.
Police say the pickup left the road, went down an embankment and hit a raised driveway, causing it to go airborne for more than 160 feet and overturning for another 90 feet before coming to a rest.
Dupuis was pronounced dead the scene.
Troopers say he was stationed at nearby Fort Drum, home of the Army's 10th Mountain Division.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
