A soldier assigned to the 1st Infantry Division has died following a car crash, officials announced Tuesday.
Pfc. Coral Lynn Clark, 24, died Sunday after a two-car collision on Interstate 70 in Topeka, Kansas, according to information released by 1st Infantry Division and Fort Riley officials.
Clark, of Fort Worth, Texas, was a chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear specialist. She was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Infantry Division Sustainment Brigade.
"The [soldiers] of the 1st Infantry Division Sustainment Brigade extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Pfc. Coral Lynn Clark," said Lt. Col. Clint Tracy, the brigade's rear provisional commander, in a statement. "Coral was a model soldier and an inspiration to her peers and superiors alike through her work ethic and her singing."
Clark joined the Army in March 2014; she arrived at Fort Riley, Kansas, in September 2014. Clark had not deployed. Her awards and decorations include the Army Achievement Medal and the Army Service Ribbon.
