Applications are being accepted for a unique broadening opportunity that allows certain officers and noncommissioned officers of the Military Police Corps to attend the FBI National Academy at Quantico, Virginia.

Army candidates for the 10-week courses that will be conducted in 2017 will be considered by a nomination panel that meets May 16-20 at the Human Resources Command.

The panel will nominate four primary candidates and 10 alternates from a group of soldiers that will include Military Police captains and nonpromotable majors in specialty 31A, and Criminal Investigation Command warrant officers (MOS 311A) and senior NCO (MOS 31D) criminal investigators.

Final acceptance of nominees will rest with the FBI, which will conduct file reviews, personal interviews and background checks.

Applicants must be ages 25-50, meet Army weight and physical fitness standards, have no more than 15 years of active federal service as of June 2017, and be able to serve in a law enforcement or investigative assignment after graduating from the academy.

Applicants who are assigned overseas must be in a stateside assignment at least six months before their attendance at one of the academy courses. The stationing requirement cannot be waived as it will give the FBI sufficient time to conduct a proper background investigation.

Soldiers who are selected for this training program will incur a service obligation of three days for every day they spend in school.

The application deadline is May 11. For application procedures and other program details, consult MilPer Message 16-063.
