FORT STEWART, Ga. — A Georgia man accused of killing the wife of a deployed soldier on an Army post has pleaded not guilty to a charge of premeditated murder.

News outlets report 27-year-old Stafon Jamar Davis was arraigned Wednesday in Savannah. He’s been charged in the July 9 shooting death of 24-year-old Abree Boykin at Fort Stewart Army Reservation.

U.S. Attorney Bobby Christine said in a news release that Davis is also charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Military police found Boykin's body in her home. Authorities say her husband was deployed in Afghanistan at the time.

Davis is being held without bond in the Liberty County Jail. It’s unclear whether he had an attorney who could comment.
