Selection lists containing the names of specialty branch officers recommended for promotion to major and lieutenant colonel will be released Thursday morning.

The lists, one for Judge Advocate General Corps majors selected for advancement to lieutenant colonel, and four for captains of the Army Medical Department recommended for advancement to major, must be confirmed by the Senate before the Army can schedule promotions.

The JAG Corps list was compiled by a board that met in mid-August, and the AMEDD lists by a panel that met in August. Included on the AMEDD lists are the names of promotable Nurse Corps, Medical Service Corps, Medical Specialist Corps and Veterinary Corps captains.

Dec. 1 promotions will reduce the 2013 JAG lieutenant colonel list to just three names, which means the new list could be used for promotions in early 2015. Medical Service Corps, Veterinary Corps and Nurse corps advancements to major will be on hold until the new lists are confirmed. There will be three promotions to major for the Medical Specialist Corps in December, which will reduce the 2013 list to one name.
