The military first documented health concerns surrounding chemicals known as PFAS decades ago yet has continued to use firefighting foam made with them.

Veterans with health problems caused by exposure to toxic chemicals known as PFAS would be eligible for federal health care services under legislation proposed in Congress.
The initial review will last until 2020 and set the foundation for further studies into whether PFAS is to blame for military cancers and birth defects.
A lawmaker wants the military to stop using firefighting chemicals that can contaminate groundwater and to address the health problems they cause for service and community members.
