A man was caught on a surveillance video in Wyoming, Michigan stealing several items from Army veteran Travis Campbell’s car.

Campbell’s car had been parked for weeks outside of his workplace at an auto shop, waiting on repairs. When he went to finish the work on his car, he noticed several items missing, some irreplaceable, according to a local news report.

All of the hiking, camping and biking gear in Campbell’s car was taken. The intruder also stole a knife set that Campbell had received from his drill sergeant, he said.

“It was an expensive knife … but it means more to me than it was actually worth,” Campbell, a former sergeant, told Fox 17 in an interview.

After serving in the Army for 13 years, he didn’t expect to lose his memorabilia that way, Campbell said.

The Wyoming Department of Public Safety is investigating the theft and is hoping to find and return some of Campbell’s items.

“He is a veteran and some of those items are irreplaceable because they have sentimental value to him,” Lt. Eric Wilder told Fox 17.

Campbell is asking that the thief return his items. Anyone with information is asked to call Wyoming police at 616-530-7300.
