Army identifies Fort Hood soldier killed in car crash

A soldier assigned to the 1st Cavalry Division has died from injuries suffered in an automobile accident, officials said Monday.

Spc. Barron Von Reichelt, 24, died Saturday. The accident happened on South Range Road on Fort Hood, Texas.

Reichelt, whose home of record is Las Vegas, Nevada, joined the Army in January 2015 as a cannon crew member. He had been assigned to Fort Hood's 2nd Battalion, 82nd Field Artillery Regiment, 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division since April 2016.

His awards and decorations include the National Defense Service Medal and the Army Service Ribbon.
