Sgt. 1st Class Shonta Tucker, a platoon sergeant at Fort Hood's Warrior Transition Unit, will announce the Dallas Cowboy's fourth choice for the 2017 draft on Saturday along with Spc. Tavon Johnson, according to a release from the Army.
Tucker had to beat out 49 other competitors in the Dallas Cowboys Military NFL Combine in February. The events included a 40-yard dash, two minutes of push-ups, a vertical jump and an L-line drill.
"I have been a sprinter since eighth grade and I've always dominated in the 100-yard dash, 4x100 and 4x400 relays. I also was able to high jump five feet as a high school track and field athlete," Tucker said in the release.
Tucker said she would train with her daughters and run the 40-yard dash while her daughters timed her, and she got help from friends with drills to increase speed.
The platoon sergeant landed the top female position by jumping seven feet in the broad-jump competition.
"I always wanted to compete in a competition that would show a lot more of my athletic skills, so this was my opportunity," she said in the release, "I feel overjoyed and excited! This is definitely a bucket-list item."
