Spc. Zachary Charles Moore was found unresponsive in his barracks room at Camp Hovey, South Korea on Tuesday, Army officials have announced.
Moore, 23, was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital in Uijeongbu and pronounced dead there, the Army said in a press release Wednesday.
The circumstances surrounding his death are under investigation by Criminal Investigation Command.
Moore was a signal support systems specialist assigned to the 9th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division at Fort Hood since July 2016. He joined the Army in March 2014.
He was from Virginia Beach, Virginia, according to Army officials.
Moore’s awards and decorations include three Army Achievement Medals, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Korea Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon and Driver and Mechanics Badge.
