A soldier who died Wednesday in an accidental shooting has been identified, the Associated Press reported.
Spc. Devin Kuhn, 24, suffered injuries from the shooting in the housing area at Camp Rilea, Oregon. The camp is the main training facility for the Oregon National Guard.
Kuhn was an automatic rifleman assigned to Alpha Company, 2nd Ranger Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington.
He deployed once to Afghanistan in support of Operation Freedom’s Sentinel, and his awards and decorations include the National Defense Service Ribbon, the Army Service Ribbon, the Expert Infantryman Badge and the Ranger tab, according to Fox 12 in Oregon. He is survived by his wife and parents.
According to Stars and Stripes, the shooting did not occur during a training exercise, and authorities believe it was accidental. The incident is under investigation.
