One of the submissions for the Army’s Modular Handgun System program is now for sale to civilians with all the military upgrades.

The FN 509 Tactical was on display at the Association of the United States Army annual meeting. Though the Army ultimately chose the military-grade version of the Sig Sauer P320, this FN pistol packs a lot of real-world features that might interest the tactical shooter.

The handgun is a military-standard version of their civilian FN 509. It comes in 9mm and a tan color.

The 509 Tactical allows users to change the backstrap of the hand grip for size or texture. It has an extended slide release compared to the standard version.

The pistol features an ambidextrous magazine release and a threaded barrel with an O-ring holder for suppressor attachment.

The pistol comes with a kit that has the mounting items needed to mount any common pistol optic on the market.

And it has two spring strengths so that serious shooters can use lighter rounds on the range.
