With the NFL’s dismal ratings with players’ protests during the national anthem, polling sites are taking a deep look at why respondents are boycotting the league. One new poll from SurveyMonkey and Ozy Media asks respondents to choose between seven answers to describe why they are boycotting the league.

The top response to the survey at 32 percent was “in support of Donald Trump.” In second place with 22 percent was “in solidarity with players kneeling” and 13 percent of respondents said they have “no interest in the teams playing.” Twelve percent of respondents said they boycotted the NFL “in support of Colin Kaepernick,” while 11 percent said it was because of “news about traumatic brain injuries among players.” And while 8 percent said “games are boring,” 46 percent of respondents said there was “some other reason.” (Respondents could select more than one answer)

We want to know how the military audience is reacting to the NFL boycott. If you tuned out this season, we want to know why. Take our survey below.

One site noticed a trend that boycotting centers around three themes: patriotism, free speech and race. Another poll by CBS/YouGov asks respondents what the flag and national anthem means to them. Data also shows how the protests impact cable channels as fans are turning to social media for highlights from games.
