The Army is close to firing up its ITEP engine for the first time that will power its Future Attack Reconnaissance Aircraft and it will choose a winner in the coming months to build its Future Long-Range Assault Aircraft.
The Army has released its request for proposals to two industry teams to build its future long-range assault aircraft. According to FY22 budget documents, it also laid out a schedule to reach a first unit equipped by FY30.
Two teams enter the final phase of competitive development and risk reduction before the Army moves into an official program of record to buy and field a new long-range assault helicopter.
The Army is pushing forward with its Future Attack Reconnaissance Aircraft program, preparing to pass through the Army Requirements Oversight Council gauntlet in April.
