The Close Combat Lethality Task Force hosted the first meeting of the Artificial Intelligence for Small Unit Maneuver working group at Fort Benning, where participants tested robots among other AI technologies. The light and medium versions are with soldiers now. It's like a game of Pac-Man. Teams of civilians are testing their ground and aerial robots in places where troops would have difficulty going. The agile creatures do things humans can't. Recent research shows legged robots can be as efficient as tracked or wheeled versions. A company-level assessment is planned for next year. The future platoon will have a vast number of technogical advtanttages at its fingertips. Sensors, drones, artificial intelligence and machine learning will transform combat vision.
