A revolver worn by Confederate States of America President Jefferson Davis on the day of his surrender fetched a pretty penny. Col. Paris Davis was recognized at an event that also honored Special Forces troops who trained their Thai counterparts. U.S. Army Recruiting Command will remove “ineffective” recruiters from the duty assignment without giving them a negative evaluation. This year marked the 15th annual induction ceremony. The foundation has awarded more than $600,000 in scholarships over that time. Nearly six decades later, an upgrade to the Medal of Honor for this brave officer. The then-Capt. Paris Davis was recommended for the high honor at the time but lost paperwork and other factors led instead to a Silver Star Medal. By Darlene Superville
14 months ago The honor will go to retired Army Col. Paris Davis nearly 60 years after Davis distinguished himself during the Vietnam War. The award paperwork was lost on two separate occasions. Now his medal may come. More potential recruits can’t meet weight or academic standards and more are using substances banned by the military. Help may be on the way for military spouses struggling to find employment or pay for child care, as Congress weighs multiple bills that would impact military families financially.
