Wyoming town to honor soldier killed in World War II

The Casper Star-Tribune reported Friday that law-enforcement officers and the Patriot Guard Riders motorcycle group will escort Pfc. Lawrence Samuel Gordon's remains.

They'll stop at at a ranch west of Casper where Gordon worked.

The procession is part of 1,500-mile ceremonial journey that will end in Eastend, Saskatchewan, where Gordon will be buried near family.

CBS News reported Gordon was killed in France in August 1944 and mistakenly buried as an unknown German soldier in a French cemetery.

Family members and volunteer researchers eventually identified the remains using DNA.
