Teen pleads not guilty to killing LA Army vet

SAN FERNANDO, Calif. — A man arrested on suspicion of killing a U.S. Army veteran over a dispute involving Los Angeles-area graffiti taggers has pleaded not guilty to murder and other charges.

City News Service says 18-year-old Vincent Estrada entered the pleas Thursday in a San Fernando courtroom.

Estrada was arrested Tuesday for the Sunday morning death of Francisco Garcia in Sylmar. Police say Garcia was gunned down on a sidewalk after a tagging group he was involved with received a threatening phone call.

Police say the killing apparently stemmed from a simmering dispute either within the group or between rival groups.

The 21-year-old Garcia had served stateside and was discharged from the Army in July.
