Spc. Stephen James Parson died Sunday from injuries he suffered in a vehicle accident, officials at Fort Hood, Texas, announced Wednesday.
Parson, 34, was in Martinsville, West Virginia, when the accident occurred.
Parson, of Pottstown, Pennsylvania, joined the Army in July 2012 as a behavioral health specialist. He was assigned to Medical Company A, Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center at Fort Hood. He arrived at the Texas post in July.
His awards and decorations include the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon and the Army Service Ribbon.
