Nearly 100 officers of the Army Medical Department have been slated for assignments to brigade and battalion command and key billet positions that become vacant in fiscal 2016.
The Medical Corps, Dental Corps, Medical Service Corps, Medical Specialist Corps, Veterinary Corps and Nurse Corps colonels, lieutenant colonels and promotable majors were selected for these assignments by boards that met in the fall of 2014.
All these officers officially "opted in" to be considered by the boards, and any assignment declinations now will be considered with prejudice, and the officers no longer will be eligible to compete for command assignments at any grade level.
Requests for deferments must be received in writing at the Human Resources Command by June 16. Deferment requests that are not approved will be treated as declinations, and the officer no longer will be eligible for command consideration.
