Officials at Fort Hood, Texas, have released the name of a soldier who died in an automobile accident Friday on Aug. 21.

Spc. Carlo Cassavettis Westbrook was 21, officials said Monday. Westbrook died Friday from injuries he suffered in an auto accident in Killeen, which is just outside Fort Hood.

Westbrook was from Malvern, Arkansas. He joined the Army in October 2012 as a motor transport operator. He had been assigned to the 1st Cavalry Division's Brigade Support Battalion since July.

His awards and decorations include the National Defense Service Medal and Army Service Ribbon.

The circumstances surrounding the accident were still under investigation Monday, officials said.
