The Army plans 656 Regular Army promotions to the ranks of captain through colonel and the grades of CW3 through CW5 in December.

The Army also has authorized an additional 267 promotions to CW3 through CW5 for active-component officers on the new chief warrant officer list released in October. These promotions will have effective dates in October and November.

Another 34 promotions to major through colonel are authorized for Army Reserve officers of the Active Guard and Reserve.

The Regular Army promotion plan for December includes 26 advancements to colonel for all branches and corps, 136 to lieutenant colonel, 121 to major, 257 to captain and 116 to the chief warrant officer grades.

The above totals include 24 promotions to colonel for officers of the Army Competitive Category, 103 to lieutenant colonel, 109 to major and 244 to captain.

Within the Active Guard and Reserve, there will be one promotion for the Army Promotion List category, 17 APL advancements to lieutenant colonel, and 15 APL and one Medical Service Corps promotions to major.
