Police: Soldier found dead in vehicle after Oklahoma shooting

LAWTON, Okla. — A solider stationed at Fort Sill has died after being shot in northeast Lawton.

The Oklahoman reports that police responded to a call of a person being shot at an apartment complex Saturday morning.

Police say witnesses gave a description of a vehicle that left the scene, and officers found the vehicle south of the complex with the victim inside. The name of the victim was not immediately released.

After interviewing witnesses, investigators say the shotgun shooting may have been accidental.

Military and civilian authorities are investigating the incident.
