The Army's investigation into the death of the 7-year-old son of a soldier at Fort Detrick, Maryland, remains open, though a spokesman said there was "no indication or evidence of foul play."
The boy's fatal injury occurred in his on-post home Thursday at 8 p.m., according to a Monday statement from Chris Grey, spokesman for Army Criminal Investigation Command. The boy was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators haven't "completely" ruled out foul play, Grey said, adding that an "independent and thorough death investigation" is ongoing. Investigators believe it was an isolated incident and do not believe there is a larger threat to the Fort Detrick community, according to the statement.
No details were released by the installation, which called the incident an "unfortunate tragedy" in a Friday news release. A spokeswoman forwarded further questions to CID officials; Grey said no details would be released "to protect the integrity of the ongoing investigation."
The installation is home to Army Medical Research and Materiel Command, among other agencies.
