There will be 2,628 Regular Army promotions to the ranks of chief warrant officer three through colonel in May, about five times more than the total for April.
Most of the promotions in May will go to first lieutenants advancing to captain on the fourth anniversary of their commissioning from the U.S. Military Academy and the ROTC.
By rank there will 73 promotions to colonel for all branches and corps, 168 to lieutenant colonel, 214 to major, 2,067 to captain and 106 to the senior chief warrant officer grades.
Within the Army Competitive Category there will be 48 advancements to colonel, 101 to lieutenant colonel, 113 to major, 1,992 to captain, four to chief warrant officer five, 30 to chief warrant officer four and 72 to chief warrant officer three.
The monthly authorization for the special branches includes promotions off the new selection lists for the Medical Service Corps, Medical Specialist Corps, Veterinary Corps and Nurse Corps.
The Army also has scheduled 13 promotions to major and two to lieutenant colonel for the Army Reserve component of the Active Guard and Reserve.
