UPDATE: The body of the missing Fort Campbell soldier was found Monday morning at Kentucky Lake in Golden Pond, Kentucky, officials with the 101st Airborne Division said.

The soldier was positively identified, and the Lyon County Deputy Coroner pronounced him dead, officials said. The soldier’s name is being withheld until his family is notified.


A soldier from Fort Campbell is missing after a boating accident Friday afternoon at Kentucky Lake in Golden Pond, Kentucky, the 101st Airborne Division said in a statement.

The soldier’s name is being withheld pending completion of the search and notification of the family, officials said Saturday night.

The soldier was boating and swimming with friends at the time of the accident.

There were no other casualties.

Local first responders, led by the Lyons County Emergency Management Agency, continued to search for the soldier over the weekend.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family, friends and fellow soldiers as the search continues,” said Brig. Gen. Todd Royar, the acting senior commander of the 101st Airborne and Fort Campbell, in a statement. “We are grateful for the support from our civilian partner agencies during this event.”

The accident is under investigation.
