The Army's plan to cancel its Future Attack Reconnaissance Aircraft was a surprise, but not a mistake, according to some defense experts. Added firepower, better troop protection and robotic escorts add punch to ground combat. A platoon at Fort Moore, Georgia and another at the National Training Center, Fort Irwin, California, lead experiments. Entry-level soldiers will learn basic skills, while more advanced training will give troops an additional skill identifier. Epirus has delivered the first prototype to the U.S. Army to counter drone swarms as part of the service's Indirect Fire Protection Capability.
