A bridge in Randolph County has been renamed in honor of a soldier who was killed in the Vietnam War.

The former Becky's Creek Bridge near Huttonsville is now the U.S. Army Sgt. Cecil W. Kittle Memorial Bridge.

The Inter-Mountain reports that a bridge dedication ceremony was held Saturday.

State online records show that Kittle was a member of the 1st Air Cavalry Division. He was killed on Nov. 17, 1965, while participating in an operation to take troops to a clearing in the La Drang Valley

During the bridge renaming process, officials discovered that Kittle had been approved for a Bronze Star Medal with Combat Distinguished "V'' Device and a Combat Infantryman Badge. The medals were presented to Kittle's family at Saturday's ceremony.
