Local police have launched an investigation into the death of a 19-year-old Fort Riley, Kansas, soldier, according to a Friday release from the Army.

Pfc. Spencer Rose was found dead in an off-post apartment in Grandview Plaza on Wednesday, the release said.

Rose was an aircraft structural repairer with 1st Attack Reconnaissance Battalion, 1st Aviation Regiment, 1st Combat Aviation Brigade, 1st Infantry Division, the release said.

"We are deeply saddened by the passing of Pfc. Spencer Rose,” battalion commander Lt. Col. Glenn McQuown said. “Our thoughts, prayers and support go out to his family and friends during this difficult time.”

Rose joined in the Army in 2017 and had been stationed at Fort Riley since March.
