El Paso County sheriff’s deputies arrested a Fort Carson, Colorado, soldier on Saturday night following a shooting at a home near post, according to a Sunday news release.

They found one person dead and, following interviews with witnesses, detained Pfc. Isaac James Klippert, an infantryman with 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Army spokeswoman Brandy Gill confirmed to Army Times on Tuesday.

“The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating this case as an accidental shooting,” the release said.

Klippert, 22, faces charges of manslaughter, first-degree assault and prohibited use of a weapon. Authorities also believe alcohol was involved in the shooting.

The Yakima, Washington, native joined the Army in fall 2017 and has been with 4th ID since finishing initial entry training.
